Discovery Air Technical Services (DATS) has recently obtained a number of Transport Canada (TC) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supplemental type certificates (STCs), expanding and enhancing the company’s product offering.
The TC STCs include allowing for the installation of a galley insert kit on Embraer Phenom 100 business aircraft , designed to improve the functionality and appearance of the existing Phenom 100 galley by introducing new stowage drawers and sliding doors. The DATS Phenom 100 Galley Insert solution has attracted significant attention within the Phenom aircraft operator community with kits already shipped and installed with operators in both Canada and the USA, where the galley insert kit has also received an FAA STC.
Another TC STC relates to replacing the existing attitude heading reference system on Bombardier DHC-8-100 series aircraft with the SAGEM APIRS. This major upgrade dramatically increases the mean time between failures (MTFB), operating and maintenance costs relative to the existing system. In addition, installation of the DATS APIRS STC provides DHC-8 operators with a dramatically improved capability to operate in northern geographic regions. The DATS team is now offering a turnkey AHRS upgrade installation service to DHC-8 operators. The upgrade can be expanded to include the DHC-8-300 series aircraft.
The company was also awarded a TC STC to upgrade the floor loading capacity of the DHC-8-100 series. The upgrade increases the floor loading capacity throughout the DHC-8-100 passenger cabin to 75 pounds per square foot, thus increasing the multi mission flexibility of the DHC-8 aircraft. The DATS team is now offering a turnkey floor upgrade installation service to DHC-8 operators. The upgrade can be expanded to include the DHC-8-300 series aircraft.
