Air Canada rouge A319 lands at Pearson

Air Canada’s new low-cost vacation destination carrier, rouge, is set to launch operations on July 1. The airline’s first Airbus A319 left Mirabel Airport and arrived at Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport on June 18. The aircraft was painted in rouge colours by Premier Aviation at Trois Rivieres, Que., and ferried to Mirabel for cabin integration by Avianor Inc.  
 
Rouge aircraft are being fitted with new interiors and seating and will feature wireless streaming entertainment to customer’s wireless devices. The airline’s Boeing 767s will be in a 282 seat, three-class configuration. The A319s will be in a 142 seat, two-class configuration. Rouge flights will operate to several new vacation destinations in Europe and the Caribbean, mainly operating from Toronto initially, with Montreal departures coming soon. Destinations in Europe will include Athens, Edinburgh and Venice, and Caribbean destinations will include Punta Cana, Liberia, San Jose, Puerto Plata, Varadero, Kingston, Santa Clara, Cayu Coco, Holguin, and Samana.
