L-3 MAS, with its partner Avianor Inc., announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year follow-on contract from the Canadian government to continue providing complete in-service support (ISS) services for the Department of National Defence (DND) CC-150 Polaris Airbus fleet.

This new award of the CC-150 Multi-Year ISS contract has a total potential value of $683 million and secures L-3 MAS as the government’s CC-150 support contractor until 2018, followed by an additional two five-year option periods. L-3 MAS was awarded the CC-150 Interim ISS contract in June 2012. The work on this contract will be carried out at the customer’s operating base in Trenton, Ontario, and in L-3 MAS and Avianor facilities in Mirabel, Quebec.

“We understand the strategic importance of the CC-150 fleet’s missions and are honoured to again be selected by the Canadian government for this program,” said Jacques Comtois, vice president and general manager of L-3 MAS. “Since the award of the Interim contract last June, the L-3 MAS team has been committed to providing DND with stable and best-value sustainment support of this operationally strategic fleet. This selection is further affirmation of our commitment to customer focus, flawless execution and long-term partnerships as Canada’s leading military aircraft ISS provider.”

“Avianor is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to continue to demonstrate its market-leading commercial MRO capabilities in support of Canada’s CC-150 Airbus fleet,” added Sylvain Savard, president and co-owner of Avianor. “Our Airbus credentials, agility and very competitive rate structure will continue to ensure maximum operational availability and best value to the Canadian government.”

The CC-150 Polaris fleet is used by the government for such high-profile missions as VIP transportation and strategic air-to-air refuelling, as well as passenger, freight and medical evacuation transportation. As the prime contractor, L-3 MAS is providing overall program management, material management and engineering support services, as well as line maintenance support at CFB Trenton. Avianor is providing heavy maintenance and component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services from its Mirabel facility.
