New appointments at CADSI

The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) is pleased to announce the appointments of Eugene Lang as Special Advisor (Policy), Brett Boudreau as Director of Communications and Marketing, and Bonnie Butlin as Security Program Manager. In addition, Steven Hillier has transitioned to a new role as Director of International Business Development.
“Additions of experienced professionals enhances our capacity and capabilities as an organization to provide value-added service to our members and to deliver on CADSI’s strategic objectives as defined by the Board of Directors,” said Tim Page, President of CADSI. “I am delighted to welcome Gene, Brett and Bonnie to our team and to congratulate Steven on his new role.”
Eugene Lang, BMO Visiting Fellow, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, Glendon College (York University), worked in the federal government for 12 years, including at National Defence and Finance Canada. For the past seven years he has worked in government affairs at Bell Canada Enterprises and Bluesky Strategy Group.  An award- winning author, Lang has co-written two books and more than a hundred articles and essays on economic policy, national defence issues and foreign affairs. He was educated at the University of Western Ontario, Queen’s University and the London School of Economics, where he studied as a Chevening Scholar.
Mr. Boudreau retired as a colonel from the Canadian Armed Forces with more than 27 years of service, primarily in public affairs. He served as a senior advisor and national spokesperson on several domestic, coalition, UN and NATO operations, at four NATO HQs, and in the Privy Council Office’s Afghanistan Task Force. As a consultant, he helped private firms and government departments to significantly improve their client and public communications on an array of files of national interest. He holds a B.A. from Western, and a M.A. from Carleton University, and is a Conference of Defence Associations Institute Board Member.
Ms. Butlin brings with her a wealth of experience within the security field writ large, including as Executive Director of the Canadian Security Partners’ Forum (CSPF) – an agile network of the Canadian security community with some 100-plus security–related associations in every region of Canada. She has also served as Executive Director of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS), and has worked with the Conference of Defence Associations Institute and in various positions with the Federal Government. She is the sole author of National Security and the Administration of Justice, a study commissioned for the Federal Court of Canada. Ms. Butlin was named to Security Magazine’s Most Influential in Security international list for 2013.
