ARGUS releases August business aircraft activity

ARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada. The information below reflects business aircraft activity data for Aug. 1 to 31, 2014 vs. July 1 to 31, 2014 and Aug. 1 to 31, 2014 vs. Aug. 1 to 31, 2013 respectively.

August flight activity posted an increase from July to finish the period up 2.5 per cent overall. All operational and aircraft categories posted positive month over month results. Fractional flight activity posted the largest monthly gain, up 5.3 per cent from July.
Part 135 and Part 91 posted monthly gains of 2.3 per cent and 2.0 per cent respectively. Large cabin flight activity led the way for the aircraft categories, with an increase of 3.3 per cent from July. Small and mid-size cabin aircraft posted gains for 1.8 per cent and 2.2 per cent for the month. The largest month over month increase occurred in the fractional turboprop market which finished the month up 12.2 per cent.
Reviewing year over year flight activity (August 2014 vs. August 2013); TRAQPak data indicates that August 2014 posted a flight activity increase for the ninth month in a row, up 0.9 per cent. The results by operational category showed increases in the Fractional and Part 135 markets, up 5.5 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively. The Part 91 market was flat for the period, down 0.1 per cent. Flight activity by aircraft category followed the usual trend with increases for all of the jet categories. Large cabin flight activity led the way for the month, up 5.3 per cent from August 2013. Small and mid-size cabin aircraft posted year over year increases of 1.3 per cent and 1.5 per cent in that order. The turboprop industry posted a year over year decrease of 1.4 per cent. The small cabin fractional market continues to post the largest growth for an individual segment with a year over year increase of 28.0 per cent.
