Air Canada rouge receives first new Airbus A321

The Airbus A321 is the first brand-new aircraft in the rouge fleet.
Air Canada rouge is testing new waters with the delivery of a new Airbus A321 jetliner, the first of five it plans to acquire.
This is the first brand-new aircraft in the rouge fleet, the rest of which consists of Airbus A319 and Boeing 767-300ER aircraft it received secondhand from Air Canada’s mainline operations.
The new A321 is equipped with Sharklets, factory installed at the Hamburg-Finkenwerder Airbus plant in Germany, another first for the Air Canada fleet.
As more aircraft are delivered they will be deployed on popular winter sun routes.
It arrived at Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport on Nov. 3 via Keflavik, Iceland.
The first revenue flight for the rouge A321 is expected to be Toronto to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Nov. 26.

As more aircraft are delivered they will be deployed on popular winter sun routes, with flights from Montreal to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and from Toronto to Ft. Lauderdale; Phoenix, Ariz., Punta Cana; Sarasota, Fla. and Varadero, Cuba.
Air Canada has operated 16 different Airbus A321s in its fleet, 13 of which are now in service. It has another secondhand Air France machine on order for the mainline fleet as part of its 737MAX acquisition deal with Boeing.
