Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will be the guest speaker at the 41st annual induction ceremony of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame. The former Commander of the International Space Station, Expedition 35, spent six months in Earth orbit. The Hall will induct four new members at the gala, to be held May 29th in Westjet Airlines’ Campus facility at Calgary International Airport.
Newly-minted members for 2014 are: Clive Beddoe; Lorna de Blicquy; Robert Engle; and Frederick Moore, all to be presented by Hadfield who is a member himself of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame, inducted in 2005.
Tom Appleton, chairman of the Hall of Fame board of directors, said, “With such an esteemed guest speaker in Chris Hadfield, this adds significance to the much-coveted awards. This year’s inductees bring to just 216 the number of inductees named since the Hall was formed in 1973, to recognize those men and women who made significant, unique and selfless contributions to aviation and aerospace in Canada.”
