Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) will be demonstrating Night Vision Goggle technology at the Nation Business Aviation Association (NBAA) annual conference in Las Vegas from October 22-24 at booth C9832. Attendees can experience NVGs first-hand in the demonstration trailer displayed in the booth.
“We recently had the first ever approved fixed wing STC for NVIS that included unrestricted take offs and landings by both the FAA and Transport Canada, and the first unrestricted STC on our Cessna 206,” said ASU Founder Mike Atwood. “NVG technology can be utilized across multiple industries to enhance the safety of pilots and crews. We have seen how this technology has greatly enhanced the rotorcraft market and now this technology is becoming available to fixed wing pilots as well.”
NVGs are capable of being used on almost all aircraft types and sizes. ASU provides NVG equipment, cockpit modifications, pilot training and goggle maintenance and holds STCS on multiple fixed wing aircraft.
Justin Watlington is the chief pilot for ASU and the first FAA approved fixed wing NVG instructor for civilian operations in the United States. “With our STCs, trained modifiers, and proven trainers, we can provide full service to any fixed wing operation that is considering implementing an NVG program into their operation,” said Watlington. “We will have a team of people at NBAA prepared to answer questions about the use of NVGs in fixed wing operations.”
The trailer will be set up and available for demonstrations by ASU employees each day during normal show hours.
