Boeing announced two new supplier contracts at the Aerospace, Defence and Security Expo in Abbotsford, further expanding Boeing’s commercial airplanes supply chain in Canada.
Boeing awarded Ontario-based Arnprior Aerospace Inc., a Boeing supplier since 2005, contracts to build parts supporting the rudder and elevator for the new 777X, which will be the world’s largest and most efficient twin-engine commercial airplane.
“These new contracts for Arnprior Aerospace to support the 777X, our newest airplane program, reflect Boeing’s confidence in Arnprior’s performance and competitiveness,” said Kent Fisher, vice-president and general manager of supplier management, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “This is a great example of how Canadian aerospace production can bring value to our products while, at the same time, supporting long-term economic growth and local communities across the country.”

Boeing has been a committed partner to Canada’s aerospace industry for nearly a century. Boeing annually spends more than $1 billion with more than 560 Canadian suppliers and, in the past five years, has placed contracts valued at more than $6 billion with Canadian suppliers.
Through its industrial engagement programs, Boeing is able to leverage the expertise of Canadian companies of all sizes, and from all regions, in support of both its commercial and defence platforms, leading to greater economic benefit in Canada and opportunities for future collaboration across the enterprise.
Canadian suppliers manufacture components, including landing gear and composite materials, for all five Boeing Commercial Airplanes programs and support many key defence and space platforms such as the AH-64 Apache helicopter, F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter and commercial satellites.
Boeing employs approximately 2,000 people in Canada, including at Boeing Winnipeg, the company’s advanced composites manufacturing facility, and at Boeing subsidiaries Aviall Services, Inc., AeroInfo and Jeppesen.
