The National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) of India and Canadore College, signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in technical skills development for the aviation sector.
The signing is a part of an initiative developed by the Colleges and Institutes of Canada (CICan) which sees 12 Canadian institutions engaging in agreements with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) to improve job-related training for youth in India.
“It is an honour to be among one of the nine colleges in Canada signing this agreement,” said George Burton, president and CEO of Canadore College in North Bay, Ont. “We have 42 years of aviation tradition, quality and excellence supporting this agreement. We are pleased to be helping India develop greater national capacity in this field, which will ultimately add to the successes of this global industry.”
The collaborations span across multiple sectors and are designed to increase capacity through initiatives such as curriculum development, teaching and learning resources development, occupational standards, testing and certification, labour market information and more.
“Working with the NSDC has been a remarkable experience,” said Richard Peters, vice-president of corporate services at Canadore College. “The open willingness to collaborate on multiple fronts, including the creation of an Academy of Excellence, is hugely beneficial to students in both Canada and India.”
Twelve training MOUs were signed for water, technical aviation, non-technical aviation, hydrocarbons, sports and construction at Parliament Hill on April 17 in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
