Chinook to land on Parliament Hill on May 8th

In preparation for Canada’s National Day of Honour the Canadian Armed Forces will be landing a CH 147 Chinook helicopter and parking a Leopard II Tank on Parliament Hill on Thursday May 8th beginning at 7:30 pm.
  
Public in the vicinity of Parliament Hill may hear the Chinook as it approaches and may encounter strong winds and debris caused by rotor wash or experience delays due to road closures.
 
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the National Day of Honour event the next day on Parliament Hill. The public viewing area can be found on the south side of both the East and West lawns.  Following the official National Day of Honour parade, the static displays of military equipment will be available until 4:00 p.m. The public will be able to speak with Canadian Armed Forces members and see the equipment up close.
