Expanding Guernsey, Channel Islands-based regional carrier Aurigny Air Services took delivery of an E195 which will be used to add capacity on the carrier’s Guernsey – London Gatwick route. The E195 is configured with 122 slim seats in a single-class layout and is the first commercial jet for the airline. Aurigny will fly up to four daily return flights with the E195 between Guernsey and London Gatwick.
“The 122-seat configuration is ideal for the Guernsey-Gatwick route. The E195 will deliver a seat mile cost that makes the aircraft economical to operate even on the short sector, especially when you combine the quick turnaround time and high reliability of the E-Jet,” said Mathieu Duquesnoy, vice president for Europe, Middle East & Africa, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
“We welcome this E195, our first jet aircraft, as a catalyst to support our company’s strategic development plan which will allow us to better match capacity to demand on our flagship route,” said Mark Darby, CEO of Aurigny Air Services. “The aircraft’s seating capacity perfectly complements our turboprop fleet and enables us to offer enhanced passenger comfort.”
Since they entered revenue service in 2004, Embraer has received more than 1,475 orders for E-Jets. Today, 65 airlines from 45 countries operate E-Jets. In Europe, 24 airlines have added E-Jets to their fleets.
