Edmonton International Airport is excited to welcome American Airlines’ new non-stop flight from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) beginning April 2, 2014.  The new daily service will be operated with an Airbus A319 featuring eight First Class seats, 24 Main Cabin Extra seats with additional legroom and 96 Main Cabin seats. The aircraft is equipped with leather seats and inflight Wi-Fi throughout the aircraft, and in-seat entertainment and 110v universal AC power outlets at every seat. Customers can begin purchasing tickets for travel on this new flight Sunday, Dec. 22.
“This new, non-stop route is not only a major asset for travellers doing business in Dallas/Fort Worth, it offers a link to American Airlines’ largest hub, with great access to Central and South America.  Through American, Edmonton will now have access to the oneworld alliance global network of almost a thousand destinations in more than 150 countries,” said EIA president and CEO Reg Milley.
“American is pleased to offer direct service to Edmonton from Dallas/Fort Worth.  With this new service, we are further strengthening our DFW hub and providing customers throughout Alberta easier access to this important business market and key international gateway,” said Chuck Schubert, vice president – network planning, American Airlines.
“Increased air access and two-way travel has a significant impact on Alberta’s economy and tourism industry.  We look forward to welcoming more Texans to come and explore what Alberta has to offer.  With our rich history in agriculture, our landscape of both big cities and wide open spaces, and our shared culture as pioneers and entrepreneurs, Texans should feel right at home in Alberta,” said Dr. Richard Starke, Alberta Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation.
“American Airlines’ new Dallas service offers Edmontonians and Northern Albertans more choice in their travel options. We welcome, and applaud, the world’s largest airline for recognizing the opportunities presented by one of North America’s most dynamic economic regions,” said Don Iveson, Mayor of Edmonton.
“This is great news for Edmonton. The expanded air service will open new business and investment opportunities for Edmonton companies, and it also reinforces our growing position as a major economic hub. The American Airlines investment is a significant one, and we welcome the oneworld alliance to our community,” said Brad Ferguson, president and CEO of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC).
“We are very pleased to welcome the addition of American Airlines service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Edmonton.  We are looking forward to providing outstanding service to our customers from Edmonton, and we are confident that the shared economic interests in oil and gas exploration between Western Canada and North Texas will provide a solid foundation for the success of the route,” said Luis E. Perez, vice president for air service development at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The new service will operate daily, with the three-hour, 55-minute southbound flight leaving Edmonton at 8:10 a.m. and arriving in Dallas/Fort Worth at 1:05 p.m.  The four-hour, five-minute northbound flight will leave Dallas/Fort Worth at 4:20 p.m. and arrive in Edmonton at 7:25 p.m.
