The Helicopter Association International presented its 2014 Salute to Excellence awards on Feb. 26 at its annual Heli-Expo show in Anaheim, Calif.
MHM Publishing’s own Elan Head, special projects editor for Vertical magazine (Canadian Skies’ sister publication), took home this year’s Excellence in Communications Award.
As “a pilot who can write and a writer who can fly,” Elan is an FAA Gold Seal flight instructor who holds commercial helicopter and commercial helicopter-instrument ratings. She has worked as both a flight instructor and a contract pilot. In addition, she has been a reporter and editor for both general news media outlets, and aviation and helicopter trade publications.
The rest of the Vertical team was on hand to celebrate with Elan at the awards presentation.
