This Finnair Airbus A340-300, decked out in the unique Marimekko ‘Unikko/Poppy’ livery, diverted to Toronto’s Pearson International airport on Jan. 22. En route from Helsinki-Vantaa to Cuba’s Varadero Juan Gualberto Gomez International airport, the aircraft experienced a “minor hydraulic problem.” The crew declared an emergency and landed on Runway 33R without incident. The hydraulic issue resulted in a nose wheel steering problem, and the aircraft had to be towed off the runway.
