KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is celebrating its 95th anniversary and is also marking the upcoming retirement of its MD-11 fleet.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft are individually named after famous women (in this case, it’s Audrey Hepburn). This particular jet was built in 1994 and has served the airline for 20 years. It was the first aircraft in the KLM fleet to have a special 95-year anniversary decal applied in early October. In addition to its anniversary, the Dutch airline is also marking the upcoming retirement of the MD-11. Toronto and Montreal are the last two cities in the world that will be served by MD-11 passenger service, with the final flights taking place on Oct. 25 to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
