L-3 MAS announced today that it has completed the installation and certification of a Wi-Fi telecommunications system and the delivery of patient transfer units (PTUs) on the CC-150 Polaris aircraft for the Canadian Department of National Defence.
The work was performed as part of L-3’s CC-150 Multi-Year In-Service Support (ISS) contract, which L-3 MAS won in late 2013.

The Wi-Fi telecommunications system leverages economic commonalities from similar systems on other Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fleets to provide the crew and passengers with an Internet connection to access their business networks from laptops, tablets or smart phones. L-3’s work included upgrades to the satellite communications systems, as well as the installation of wireless networks for the cabin and cockpit. The success of this significant installation effort was further complemented by the support of L-3 Mission Integration, a world-class systems integration division within L-3’s Aerospace Systems business segment.
The need for medical evacuation PTUs was identified several years ago by the RCAF, but had not been fully implemented due to unresolved technical issues. After becoming the ISS provider for the CC-150 fleet, L-3 MAS developed a proactive plan that allowed it to deliver the PTU capability to the satisfaction of the RCAF medical community. The CC-150 Polaris aircraft is now properly outfitted to conduct medical evacuation of injured personnel.
