In its trademark formation of Second World War Navion aircraft, the Fraser Blues formation flying team will be taking to the skies over Langley to celebrate flight leader George Miller’s 80th birthday as well as his significant contributions to aviation over the past six decades.
Rising to the rank of colonel in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Miller’s 35-year distinguished military career included his role as a former national team leader of the Snowbirds, Canada’s much-loved premier aerobatic airshow team.
After leaving the air force, Miller became Langley’s airport manager, turning a small municipal airport into the bustling, economically-sound collection of aviation-focused businesses that it is today.
Miller continues to lead the Fraser Blues formation team, which he first founded more than 15 years ago. Fraser Blues Photo
Recently inducted into the Aviation Hall of Fame, Miller has been flying continuously for more than 60 years and has been involved in formation flying for a good portion of that time. He continues to lead the Fraser Blues formation team, which he first founded more than 15 years ago.
The Fraser Blues formation team will be conducting a practice flight on Oct. 6, with 80-year-old Miller as flight leader. The team will be returning to the Langley Airport by approximately 4 p.m. and all media and aviation enthusiasts are invited to offer their birthday wishes to Miller upon his landing.
Anyone who is not able to attend can send birthday greetings to lovestravel99@gmail.com. These wishes will be read out at a private dinner later that evening.
