Latitude Technologies, the premier global supplier of flight data monitoring, flight following, and Satcom solutions for regional fleet operators, announced that the company has begun the certification process of Latitude’s FANS (Future Air Navigation System) data link transceiver for real-time Satcom transmission of FANS 1/A+ Safety Services data over the Iridium satellite network.
Latitude’s FANS data link unit will support long-range business jets and transoceanic fleet operators for more easily qualifying their aircraft as FANS compliant and thereby gain access to dynamic route planning and en route flight path optimization available to aircraft with FANS on-board. FANS-based “smart” routing allows FANS-compliant aircraft to achieve decreased flight times and decreased fuel consumption.

Latitude President, Mark Insley, in making the announcement at the NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) Convention in Las Vegas, noted, “At Latitude, we pride ourselves at always being in the lead bringing to market new technologies developed specifically to help our customers to fly more efficiently, more safely, and more cost effectively. FANS equipped commercial and executive jets are the way of the future and Latitude is very pleased to add FANS to our broad range of FDM, AFF, and Satcom products.”
