Honourable Rob Nicholson, PC, QC, MP for Niagara Falls and Minister of National Defence, has issued the following statement:
Today, Tuesday, May 27 is “Air Force Appreciation Day” on Parliament Hill, an annual event whereby members of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) are honoured by parliamentarians, on behalf of all Canadians, for their incredible accomplishments.
In its eighth year, this day provides an opportunity for parliamentarians to meet with representatives from the RCAF, to hear first-hand accounts of their experiences, and to pay tribute to the airmen and airwomen for their tremendous service and selfless sacrifice.
It is with great pleasure that I add my appreciation to that of my fellow parliamentarians and thank the members of the RCAF for the amazing job they do each and every day.
Throughout its 90-year history, the RCAF has continually demonstrated its high level of operational excellence.  It is a committed, resilient and professional team that contributes immensely to the protection of Canada and her citizens, and responds rapidly in crisis situations during natural disasters at home or abroad or in the promotion of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law around the world.
Please join me in expressing our deepest gratitude to members of our Air Force.
