Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) announced Feb. 11, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hawker Pacific at Singapore Airshow 2014. The purpose of the MOU is to discuss the framework for Hawker Pacific, Australia’s premier fixed base operator (FBO) and leading aircraft sales and product-support company in the Asia Pacific region, to become the first FBO in the region to provide repair services for engine Diagnostics, Prognostics and Health Management (DPHM) products.
The repair station, which is set to be operational by the end of 2014, will be located at Hawker Pacific’s state-of-the-art MRO facility in Cairns, Australia, and is expected to offer repair services to a wide range of DPHM products, including the Aircraft Data Acquisition System (ADAS+) and the Flight Data Acquisition Storage and Transmission (FAST) system. Providing in-region repair capabilities will enable aircraft operators to have their DPHM products repaired locally during scheduled aircraft maintenance.
P&WC’s DPHM systems provide aircraft operators with key engine and aircraft data for Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM) and operational analysis. Such data assists aircraft operators to make informed decisions about preventive maintenance and reduce unscheduled inspections, lower operating costs and increase aircraft availability.
P&WC’s latest innovation in its expanding suite of advanced diagnostic solutions is the FAST engine diagnostic system. FAST automatically acquires, stores and transmits engine and aircraft data. Such data is readily available for review or can be immediately transmitted to another party for further analysis.
