U.S. Navy invests $232 million in F-35 training

Fort Worth, Texas-based Lockheed Martin has obtained a $232.8-million U.S. Navy contract including the supply of 19 training devices for the F-35 Lightning II. The agreement is a modification to an existing low rate initial production (LRIP) Lot VI contract. It focuses on non-recurring sustainment, including the 19 trainers and 69 pieces of complex support equipment. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics will carry out the majority of the work in Orlando, Fla., with a small fraction occurring in Owego, N.Y. and Fort Worth. The contract expires in June 2017.
