Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC) has received the first purchase orders for its SwiftBroadband compliant Satellite Communications (SATCOM) intermediate gain antenna system, known as the CMA-2200SB, from WestJet for the airline’s 737NG production aircraft. The first delivery is scheduled for September 2014.
Jim Palmer, Esterline CMC Electronics’ vice-president, commercial aviation, noted: “We are very pleased that our CMA-2200SB antenna will be launched on WestJet’s 737NG aircraft.  This selection confirms the outstanding pedigree of our antenna systems. We value our association with WestJet and look forward to working closely with them well into the future.”
CMC’s Inmarsat certified CMA-2200SB antenna has obtained Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval.  The CMA-2200SB is an
ARINC 781 compliant, electronically-steerable, phased array antenna that provides hemispherical coverage in a small, low-weight package. The antenna fully supports Inmarsat multi-channel SwiftBroadband and classic Aero-I satellite communications services.
The CMA-2200SB is CMC’s second–generation intermediate gain antenna system. The original CMA-2200 antenna entered service in 1997 and is deployed worldwide. The design of this top-mounted, low-profile antenna is based on CMC’s field-proven, proprietary technology and architecture used in its industry leading CMA-2102 family of high gain antenna systems.
Esterline CMC Electronics is a leading supplier of Satcom antennas to the air transport and VIP business jet markets. To date, CMC has delivered over 4,000 Inmarsat Satcom antenna systems to more than 110 airline, OEM, military, corporate and VIP customers.
