Sudbury, ON, Sep 1, 2011 Hicks & Lawrence Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Discovery Air Inc., is pleased to announce the opening of its aviation school, Discovery Aviation Academy (DAA). Established to provide ground and flight training to fixed-wing students from its facility in Sudbury, Ontario, DAA will commence operations on September 1st.
There is currently a significant gap that exists between aviation schools and operators, commented Jason Fogg, Program Manager of Discovery Aviation Academy. DAA will leverage Discovery Air extensive network to help give its students exposure to real-world aviation and bridge the gap between graduation and employment.
The development of Discovery Aviation Academy is one initiative to leverage infrastructure already in place to support existing business, stated Mark Hill, President of Hicks & Lawrence. It also establishes a pipeline of qualified personnel into the organization.
Discovery Aviation Academy operates out of a modern facility located at the Greater Sudbury Airport, which holds office and classroom space along with a 13,000 square foot hangar floor. More information about DAA can be found on the school website at www.flydaa.ca.
