Frank Burke, Chair of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) has announced the appointment of industry veteran Rudy Toering to the position of President and CEO of the CBAA.
The announcement was made at the opening session of the CBAA’s Annual Convention, following a North America-wide search for the new President and CEO. “Rudy Toering is a well known and well respected senior aviation executive with extensive international management and operational experience in business, general and commercial aviation.” said Frank Burke. “He shares the same values and commitment to business aviation as our board; to serve the needs of all our members, to ensure the best possible environment for business aviation and to promote a broad understanding and respect for business aviation’s contributions to our economy and country.”
In his first address to CBAA members and the business aviation community, Toering outlined some of his priorities. “My job is to make sure that all of our efforts achieve the maximum return for the CBAA membership. To do that, it is paramount that the government, regulators, legislators and the public understand the true value of the business aviation segment economic contributions. We contribute to Canada’s GDP as well as create direct and indirect employment..”
We need to showcase our contributions and in doing so, increase the awareness and respect for our business segment”, he said, referencing a 2012 study released by the European Business Aviation Association that demonstrated how local governments and communities benefited from business aviation. “With this factual representation of our business sector we need to lever the public influencers to take into account the unique operational aspects of Business Aviation in crafting policy and regulatory decisions .”
Most recently serving as Vice President, Operations and Business Development for FlightPath International, Toering’s career is notable for the number and range of successful business initiatives he launched for companies such as CAE Industries and FlightSafety International, including revenue generation, business development, training and strategic planning.
He has extensive experience contributing to and working with business aviation associations, including a four-year term as Governor of the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), Chair of the EBAA Associate Member Council, Member of the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) Board, a Member of the British Business and General
Aviation (BBGA) Council and Member of the Flight Safety Foundation Board European Advisory Council.
