September business aircraft activity was up 4.6 per cent year over year with charter flight activity leading the way, according to new ARGUS TRAQPak data.
ARGUS TRAQPak data is aircraft flight number specific arrival and departure information on all instrument flight rules flights in the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), the Caribbean and Canada.
Year-over-year flight activity
Reviewing year over year flight activity (September 2016 vs. September 2015), TRAQPak data indicates that September 2016 posted an increase of 4.6 per cent. The results by operational category showed significant gains across the board with Part 135 activity rising 7.5 per cent.
Fractional activity followed with gains of 5.5 per cent and Part 91 rose 2.6 per cent. The aircraft categories were all positive, led by a 9.6 per cent boost for large cabin jets.
Month-over-month flight activity
August business aviation flight activity posted a month over month decrease from August, finishing down 5.5 per cent. Results by operational category were down for the month, with Part 91 down 2.4 per cent, Part 135 down eight per cent and fractional activity down 10.2 per cent. The aircraft categories were mostly down month over month with the exception of large cabin aircraft, up one per cent from August.
Next month’s forecast
TRAQPak analysts estimate there will be a 4.1 per cent increase in overall flight activity year over year in October 2016.
Note: Due to a partial Federal Aviation Administration data outage during the month of August 2016, TRAQPak rebuilt approximately 40,000 flights for the month. This resulted in an additional increase in flight activity for the month of August.
