“The people of the greater Hamilton area adore WestJet’s low fare, high care service as evidenced by the high demand we saw on the route this past summer,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet executive vice-president, commercial. “We heard the citizens of Hamilton and we want to thank them for their loyalty by bringing back even more non-stop service; giving them access to Vancouver’s 27 non-stop routes on approximately 63 daily departures. We look forward to offering our guests in Hamilton and Vancouver additional access to WestJet’s growing national and international network, low fares and award-winning guest experience.”

“Hamilton to Vancouver is one of the most requested services we receive from passengers in Hamilton and surrounding region, both for business and leisure,” said Vijay Bathija, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, president and CEO. “We are thrilled with today’s (Nov. 7) announcement and thank our long-standing partner, WestJet, for recognizing this need. We look forward to welcoming WestJet service to Vancouver in April 2017.”

“We are very pleased that WestJet is bringing back their service between YVR and Hamilton. Even better, they will increase frequency to daily during the busy 2017 summer season,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “WestJet is a valued partner and every new flight brings new jobs and new opportunities for British Columbians. We look forward to the service returning.”

In addition to the Vancouver route, WestJet operates daily service to Calgary from Hamilton and seasonal service to Orlando, Fla., and Cancun, Mexico.

Hamilton/Vancouver flights will be operated on WestJet’s Boeing 737NG aircraft featuring Plus, Canada’s only system-wide, premium economy seating, and WestJet Connect, WestJet’s inflight entertainment system connected directly to smartphone, tablet or computer. Almost 70 per cent of WestJet’s Boeing fleet is now equipped with WestJet Connect.

All flights provide WestJet Rewards members the opportunity to earn WestJet dollars to be used towards the payment of a WestJet-marketed flight or a WestJet Vacations package (excluding taxes, fees and charges).

  1. Departing Hamilton so early? Returning on a red-eye? I would rather fly out of Pearson, but then it’s a toss-up whether I fly Air Canada or Westjet. You would get all of my business with a less brutal schedule out of Hamilton. You’ll get approx. half my business flying out of Pearson.
