Canada Jetlines CEO Brigitte Goersch has resigned as the airline start-up seeks to raise additional capital to continue operations.
Goersch was also chair of the Canada Jetlines board of directors. Three other board members have also resigned, the airline announced: Ryan Goepel, Beth Horowitz and Shawn Klerer.
Canada Jetlines said it is “continuing operations” at this time, but acknowledged it is “actively working on” potential sources of additional capital.
“The continuing operations of the company have been dependent upon the company’s ability to raise adequate financing and to grow the airline to the point where it can commence profitable operations,” Canada Jetlines said in a statement.
“The company has historically financed its future requirements through a combination of debt, equity or other facilities. As a result, the company will need to raise additional capital to continue operations.”
Goersch had served as CEO for less than two months, following the retirement of former CEO Eddy Doyle on June 30, 2024. Doyle had served in the role since 2021.
The airline announced in May 2024 it had initiated a CEO recruitment search, with Goersch assuming the role during the search to ensure a smooth transition.
It’s unclear who has stepped in to manage the company after her decision to resign. This follows the departure of Brad Warren, the airline’s former chief operating officer, in April 2024.
Canada Jetlines bills itself as a leisure airline, with flights to Cancun, Montego Bay, Orlando and the Riviera Maya, as well as Toronto. Its charter routes include several other destinations in the Americas and overseas, according to the company website.
