National flight school, American Flyers, has received the first eight Pilot 100i aircraft from manufacturer, Piper Aircraft, Inc., adding to their already extensive line of training aircraft.

As the global leader in aviation education, American Flyers was the first to offer instrument training and introduce flight simulators into its training programs. American Flyers knew this aircraft was the right choice because of the avionics platform, which showcases both glass and round dial presentation, helping to increase situational awareness and reduce the potential dependence on automation, further highlighting back to basics mentality.

Mike Bliss, the Chairman of the American Flyers National Safety Board, explained “This airplane will enable us to maintain our policy of “round dial” training for the Private Pilot Certificate and the first half of the instrument rating. It creates a stronger pilot by reinforcing the basic skills and foundations necessary to become a safe and proficient pilot.”

When asked his thoughts on adding the Piper Pilot 100i to the training program, American Flyers’ National Chief Pilot, Steven Daun, said “The Piper Pilot 100i is the perfect mix of simplicity and technology. The G3X avionics suite is the only glass platform that allows for toggling between round dial and tape displays in a touchscreen format. This outperformed the G1000 suite on so many levels and was the primary reason we selected the Pilot 100i.”

American Flyers is the industry leader in flight education, and one of few civilian flight schools that trained military pilots during World War II. American Flyers operates six training facilities across Arizona, New Jersey, Florida and Texas. Educators and instructors work with over 2,500 students each year. In addition to onsite education, American Flyers offers initial and recurrency training courses via our locations and online.
