Flight Data Systems (FDS), a leading provider of flight data solutions and services to business, military, commercial, and rotorcraft segments of aviation, has announced the selection of the TSO’d SENTRY Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) by Canada West Avionics as their solution-of-choice for the upcoming 2023 Canadian CVR mandates.

“We selected Flight Data Systems’ SENTRY Cockpit Voice Recorder over other solutions due to its remarkable size, weight, and power considerations,” mentions Gordon Bott, President of Canada West Avionics. “Furthermore, the streamlined installation process and available Canadian Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) will ensure that operators can quickly gain compliance ahead of the May 2023 implementation deadline.”

In addition to its two-hour, four-track datalink message recording capability, rotor speed inputs, and 10-minute Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS) module, the SENTRY holds Technical Standard Order certifications including TSO-C123a, TSO-C177a, TSO-C155b, and TSO-C121b.

The certified SENTRY is the smallest, lightest, and lowest power consumption ED-112A device available today and offers operators a complete, all-in-one solution that includes a Part 23, 25, or 27 Canadian STC. The shipset includes a SENTRY CVR, controller, and cockpit area microphone.

“We are very excited with Canada West Avionics’ decision to select the SENTRY for the upcoming 2023 Canadian CVR mandates,” said Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Flight Data Systems. “We believe the SENTRY is the best choice for operators looking for reliable, functional, and easy-to-install solutions for their fleets.”

The SENTRY’s small form factor meets SWaP requirements and certification standards for advanced air mobility (AAM), Part 25, 27, and 29 category platforms. The solution allows for easy installation onto existing CVR structural mountings without modifications.

Canadian operators seeking compliance must complete implementations by May 10, 2023. To order, please contact Canada West Avionics at www.canadawestavionics.com or Flight Data Systems at www.flightdata.aero.
