KITCHENER, ONTARIO MHM Publishing, publisher of the industry-renowned helicopter magazines Vertical and Vertical 911, is delivering what the Canadian aviation industry has long been craving complete, comprehensive coverage of everything new under the Canadian Skies.

With a broad editorial focus on all aspects of the industry business aviation, private operations, commercial, military, rotary, cargo, training, general aviation and maintenance the new Canadian Skies magazine is a must read for all aviation professionals. Published six times per year, Canadian Skies is poised to take off as the voice of Canadian aviation. Each issue will deliver insightful stories, news, reports and feature profiles on the most influential players in Canadian aviation. Packed with stunning original photography and in-depth editorial, Canadian Skies promises to deliver only fresh, original and relevant industry content.

In keeping with MHM’s winning formula, the publication is backed by an enthusiastic production team that combines industry experience with a true passion for all things aviation.

Led by publishing husband-and-wife duo Mike and Linda Reyno, Canadian Skies is produced by the industry, for the industry. Back in 2002, the Reynos exploded into the publishing world with just one strategic focus: aviation publishing. Since then helicopter magazines Vertical and Vertical 911 have received international acclaim and are the largest publications of their kind worldwide. Now, the Reynos are set to deliver once again with Canadian Skies, 80+ glossy pages of need-to-know news targeted at more than 10,000 Canadian aviation professionals.

“Canadian aviation represents the second largest aviation sector in the world, but until now there has not been an all-encompassing Canadian aviation magazine that is reporting on what is happening in all sectors of the industry,” said Canadian Skies publisher and co-founder, Mike Reyno. “This is why we are launching the biggest aviation magazine in Canada with the largest circulation amongst aviation professionals. Each issue will be packed with stories brought to you from the field by respected Canadian aviation journalists, and in-your-face photography that will captivate you from the minute it arrives in your mailbox. A magazine like Canadian Skies is long overdue in such a dynamic industry as ours.”

Also joining the Canadian Skies team are Tim Muise, Director of Sales and Marketing and Lisa Gordon, Editor-in-Chief.

Tim Muise is a long-time aviation publishing professional who was first introduced to the industry during his stint at National Military Publishers, where he was involved with the production of air show programs for the Canadian Department of National Defence. In subsequent years Muise worked in marketing until he joined what is now known as Annex Publishing and Printing, where in 2004 he became publisher of their two aviation titles, Wings and Helicopters, until he moved on to other opportunities in 2009.

“From the minute I took over as publisher of the aviation titles, I learned that people in this industry are very passionate about aviation,” says Muise, who adds that a publication like Canadian Skies is long overdue. “Canadian Skies is the realization of years of aviation publishing experience all coming together at the right time. At MHM Publishing, our own passion for aviation comes through in the magazines we publish, which means unparalleled access and insight within all sectors of the aviation industry in Canada.”

Lisa Gordon has been an aviation enthusiast since high school, when she worked as a part-time dispatcher at a flight training school in Hamilton, Ontario. She went on to work at two other flying schools while pursuing a journalism degree at Ryerson University in Toronto. She also worked at FlightSafety Canada and edited the COPA Flight newspaper before joining Naylor Publications, a firm dedicated to producing custom publications for more than 500 associations in Canada and the U.S. After a decade as Managing Editor at Naylor, Gordon is excited to join the team at Canadian Skies. “I’m happy to be back in the aviation industry and to be part of the team launching this exciting new magazine. The energy and enthusiasm surrounding this project are contagious!”

Look for the inaugural issue of Canadian Skies in September 2011. The premiere issue will be showcased at the 2011 National Business Aviation Association Conference and Exhibition, the Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council Conference and Exhibition and the Ontario AME Show, as well as in pilot lounges, FBOs and CEO mailboxes across Canada.
