Greater Toronto Airports Authority announces chief financial officer appointment

Howard Eng, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), announced on Nov. 1 that Ian Clarke, CA, FCA, ICD.D has been appointed to the position of chief financial officer of the GTAA effective immediately.

Clarke had been serving as the GTAA’s interim chief financial officer since April 10, 2017. Prior to taking on this role, Clarke had served as a director of the GTAA since 2012, including as a member and chair of its Audit Committee.

Clarke was executive vice-president, chief financial officer and business development at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. (MLSE) until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2016. Clarke commenced his 26-year career at MLSE as the controller, assuming progressively more senior positions, including vice-president, finance and administration, senior vice-president and chief financial officer.

Clarke has a proven ability in strategic planning, business operations, risk management, debt and bond financing, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

“Ian is a seasoned finance executive who brings a wealth of experience with him to the GTAA,” said Howard Eng, president and chief executive officer of GTAA. “As Toronto Pearson continues to experience significant passenger growth, Ian will play an integral role in delivering the investments necessary to ensure that our growth, and the resulting economic benefits we bring to Ontario, are sustainable over the long-term.”
