Shell Aviation, through its YEG Agent, has been awarded a multi-year contract as the provider of Jet A-1 fuel and into-plane services for the new Air China Cargo route linking Western Canada with China, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Shell has one of the world’s most extensive fueling networks and is well situated in Edmonton to support a global carrier like Air China Cargo.  Scotford Manufacturing Centre, located just 65 km northeast of Edmonton, supports a strong supply chain.
As a global, fully-integrated business with end-to-end, refinery to aircraft quality assurance, Shell has the safety and operational expertise to deliver these fueling services.
“Air China Cargo is pleased to welcome Shell Aviation as a fueling partner at our first entry point in the Canadian market,” said Wilson Yam, chief operating officer, Air China Cargo. “Safety and efficiency are priorities for us, as well as our customers and crew. Shell Aviation shares these values and has extensive expertise across its fueling operations within Canada, and around the world.”
“We are pleased that Shell Aviation, through its YEG agent, will provide refueling and into-plane services for Air China Cargo’s new route through Edmonton,” said Tom Ruth, chief executive officer, Edmonton International Airport. “Safe, reliable and efficient refueling service is critical to the success of any cargo route.”
As a leading global supplier of aviation fuels and lubricants, Shell Aviation supplies fuel at around 800 airports in approximately 40 countries, refueling an aircraft, on average, every 12 seconds. Within Canada, Shell has a network of 30 FBO facilities, including its AeroCentre Edmonton.
“Shell has been supplying aviation fuel for over 100 years,” said Clyde Mohr, GM Americas, Shell Aviation. “Maintaining safety and operational excellence across our network is at the core of our business. We have a well-developed quality management system with dedicated teams trained to deliver safe and efficient refueling. Leveraging this global expertise, we help new and existing customers remain competitive.”
The Air China Cargo carrier will serve Edmonton six times per week, with three flights from Dallas, and three from Shanghai.
