Skyxe Saskatoon Airport (Skyxe) is celebrating the grand re-opening of its new Maintenance Operations Centre (MOC).
The original building was established in the 1950s, with the last restoration in 1989.
The 2017 renovations were completed by two local firms. AODBT Architecture & Interior Design designed and Con-Tech built the expanded facility.
With a focus on sustainability, 70 per cent of the construction waste from the MOC project was diverted to a recycling facility.
A large skylight in the kitchen area provides natural light and all new Energy Star appliances are now being utilized.
The MOC supports the facilities and airfield operations team, which enables successful 24/7 airport operations.
“The Maintenance Operations Centre expansion provides a space that can accommodate our growing operations in an efficient and modern way,” said Stephen Maybury, president and CEO of Skyxe Saskatoon Airport.
“This recent expansion helps recognize the hard work of our facilities and airfield operations team, which has contributed significantly to our recent accolades of receiving Airport Councils International’s 2016 Best Airport in North America [under two million passengers] and No. 1 On-Time Performance in Canada.”
