“Our government recognizes that a competitive aerospace sector means skilled, high-paying jobs for Canadians,” said the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, who led a roundtable with the industry. “I was excited to discuss the opportunities that exist for aerospace growth and innovation in Western Canada.”
“Today’s event was about industry, parliamentarians and officials working together to promote the growth of aerospace in Western Canada so that it can continue to contribute to our economy and the prosperity of Canadians,” said Jim Quick, president and CEO of AIAC. “I am very pleased with the excellent discussions that took place as part of the Western Aerospace Partnership Day, and I look forward to seeing the continued benefit that this event will provide to the industry in the future.”
Along with the roundtable with Minister Rempel, the program also included a luncheon with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), a Defence Procurement Strategy discussion with officials from Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Industry Canada, a networking breakfast and reception, and 28 meetings with individual parliamentarians, including the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Industry, and the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.
