The Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Quebec (CRIAQ) has announced the appointment of Denis Faubert as president and CEO. Faubert will be officially introduced to the CRIAQ community at the Research Forum, which will be held on April 16 and 17 at the Palais des congrès de Montreal. He will officially assume office on May 12.
Since Denis Faubert earned his PhD in Laser Physics from Université Laval, he has had an impressive career at a number of provincial and federal institutions. Within Defence Research and Development Canada, he served as the executive director of the Valcartier Research Centre from 1998 to 2005 and executive director of the National Research Program in Ottawa for two years. Since 2007, Faubert has been the general manager of the Hydro-Quebec Research Institute (IREQ), which consists of about 500 scientists and research professionals.
Faubert will begin his mandate on the eve of a national aerospace collaboration network’s inception, which was initiated in response to the recommendations of the Emerson Report and the support of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Industry. “The CRIAQ team is set to go beyond on the call of duty to ensure this network’s success for the benefit of Canadian researchers and industry,” says Denis Faubert. The national network will incorporate the fundamentals of the collaborative research approach that sealed CRIAQ’s success. Together with the field’s most influential players, CRIAQ is working hard to foster the entire Canadian aerospace community’s participation.
Denis Faubert will succeed Clément Fortin, who will pursue new challenges, as senior advisor to the president of Moscow’s Skoltech University, after four years at CRIAQ’s helm. The CRIAQ Community wishes him the greatest success in this new adventure.
