FlightSafety names new CIO and deputy CIO

FlightSafety International has announced that Ted Bowlds has been named chief information officer and Joe Warakomski has been promoted to deputy CIO.
“We are fortunate that Ted has joined FlightSafety as CIO,” said Bruce Whitman, chairman, president and CEO. “His extensive experience in IT and outstanding leadership abilities will help to ensure this critically important function performs at the highest level.” 
“Congratulations to Joe on his promotion to deputy CIO. His contributions to the development and support of our IT systems, and efforts to design and deploy innovative programs and applications that enhance the services our customers receive, are most appreciated,” added Whitman.
Bowlds has more than three decades of experience leading strategy, planning, administration and organizational development for commercial and military organizations. He is highly experienced in the development of information technology systems and processes, cyber research and engineering management. 
Prior to joining FlightSafety Bowlds worked as a consultant to the aerospace industry. His mandates have included strategic planning, working as a subject matter expert for major program proposals, and performing business case analyses on critical software capabilities.
He served in the United States Air Force for over 30 years and retired as a Lieutenant General. His responsibilities included Commander and chief executive officer of the Electronic Systems Center and Air Force research laboratories.
Bowlds was also deputy for acquisition at the Aeronautical Systems Center, and program executive officer for airlift and trainers. He earned a master of science in engineering management from the University of Dayton, a master of science in electrical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University.

Warakomski became managing director of business systems in 2012 and has led FlightSafety’s technology and digital strategy as executive director of information technology since 2014. 
Prior to joining FlightSafety he was co-founder and president of yNetworks, a professional service organization providing enterprise information security services. Warakomski held previous positions in information security, infrastructure, and software testing and development roles with Pilot Network Services, BlastNet Internet Services and Lucent Technologies.  
He earned a master of business administration from Rutgers Business School and a bachelor of science in management information systems from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He holds a private pilot license with an instrument rating certification.
