FlightSafety announces Learning Centre staffing changes

FlightSafety International announces that Alex Thurmond has been promoted to an assistant manager of its Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri.  
David Glass has also been appointed manager of its Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, David has become a regional operations manager and will oversee FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Seattle, Washington. Jeremy Pisell has been promoted to manager of its Learning Center in Houston, Texas to succeed Glass.
“We are pleased that Alex has joined the St. Louis Center leadership team,” said Daniel MacLellan, vice president, operations. “Since coming to FlightSafety more than 15 years ago, Alex has made many significant contributions to the high quality training and outstanding services we provide. His work with our internal training programs has helped many of our teammates to excel in their jobs and to further improve their service to our customers.” 
Alex joined FlightSafety in 1998 as an instructor and held a number of positions with increasing responsibility. They included program manager, director of standards and director of training for the Toledo Learning Center. Alex was promoted to his most recent role as a regional director of training operations in 2010. His responsibilities included providing primary support to seven of FlightSafety’s Learning Centers, and helping to develop, implement and deliver internal training programs.
He graduated from Warren National University in Cheyenne, Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He received a Masters in Business Administration from Salem International University in Salem, West Virginia. Alex is type rated in four Cessna Citation aircraft and has more than 3,000 flight hours and 2,000 in simulators as an instructor. He holds Airline Transport Pilot and Commercial Pilot certificates. Alex is also a Certified Flight Instructor, Advanced Ground School Instructor, Multi-Engine Instructor, and Training Center Evaluator. 
Angie Gremard, previous manager of the Center, will now serve as a relationship manager for FlightSafety’s Regional Airline Customers as well as assistant manager. Jeremy Pisell succeeds David as manager of the Houston Learning Center.

We sincerely appreciate Angie’s many contributions to the success of the St. Louis Center and know she will continue to excel in her new role.”
David joined FlightSafety in 2004 as an instructor and an FAA designated Training Center Examiner at the St. Louis Center for the Embraer 170 training program.  He went on to serve as director of standards for St. Louis and then as assistant manager of the Houston Center. David became manager of the Toledo Learning Center in 2009, and then of the Houston Center in 2010.
He served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty for twelve years and in the Reserves for ten more as a joint staff officer, forward air controller, aircraft safety officer and squadron standardization pilot. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. David then flew for Trans World Airlines and American Airlines and was an instructor and FAA Check Airman. His type ratings include the McDonnell Douglas DC-9, Boeing 757/767, Embraer 170/190, and the Citation CE560XL aircraft. 
David holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Masters in Management from Troy State University.

Jeremy joined FlightSafety in 2006 at the Dallas Learning Center. He has served as an instructor, program manager, assistant director of training, and director of training. He was most recently assistant manager of FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Tucson, Arizona. 
He began his career in aviation working at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as a flight specialist and then as a flight instructor for Airline Transportation Professionals.  Jeremy was with Delta Air Lines for nine years just prior to joining FlightSafety. He served as an associate customer service agent, instructor and course developer for Human Factors and Indoctrination training, and as a flight training procedures instructor on the Boeing 737.
Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Aviation Safety from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.  He holds Airline Transport Pilot, Commercial Pilot, and Aircraft Dispatcher certificates. Jeremy is also a Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Ground Instructor, and Training Center Evaluator. He has type ratings for the Boeing 737, Gulfstream III, and Falcon 2000 EASy aircraft. 
The Houston Learning Center offers training for aircraft manufactured by ATR, Bombardier, Embraer, Hawker, and Saab. It is equipped with FlightSafety built simulators for the ATR 42, ATR 72, ATR 42/72-500, Bombardier Challenger 601-3A, Embraer ERJ 145, Hawker 800XP, and Saab 340.
