Investment at St. Andrews Airport

James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk—Interlake, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $1,902,398 for the rehabilitation of existing visual aids and the installation of new visual aids and associated electrical infrastructure at the St. Andrews Airport. 

This work will ensure continued safe visibility and airport operation for flight crews, passengers, employees and medical evacuations.

Funding comes from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

Quick Facts:
•    To date, through ACAP, the St. Andrews Airport has received over $4.9 million in funding for 10 safety projects, including today’s announcement.  
•    Previous projects included the rehabilitation of airside pavement and edgelighting and the replacement of a runway sweeper, snowplow truck and snowblower.
•    Since the program started, the Government of Canada has invested more than $628 million for 771 projects at 174 airports across the country.
