HighWater Innovations, the makers of PlaneGard has announced that Air Tahiti Nui has equipped its fleet with PlaneGard PG250 fire containment cases. With daily flights from Los Angeles, Calif., to Papeete, French Polynesia, Air Tahiti Nui planes are now safe from personal electronic device (PED) fires during the entire eight-hour flight over the Pacific.
PlaneGard is designed to completely protect the passengers, crew and equipment from PED fires that result when the Li-ion batteries go into thermal runaway. Such fires have an increasing possibility of occurring as passengers and crew carry more and more devices onto the planes.
Pilots and their electronic flight bags (EFBs) are already a known risk. PlaneGard is the state-of-the-art in capture and contain technology for in-flight PED/Li-ion battery fires and is the only 100 percent containment technology available. A PED fire is a unique battery fire that produces copious quantities of smoke, flames and toxic vapours that are not contained by competitive products such as the burn bags.
