TrueNorth Avionics has introduced its TrueNorth Stylus Wi-Fi handset (Stylus Wi-Fi) at the National Business Aviation Association Convention and Exhibition (NBAA) in Las Vegas, NV. A cordless version of the company’s popular TrueNorth Stylus corded handset; Stylus Wi-Fi is just as customizable, and features the same industry leading high fidelity voice, and multilingual interface. It is the aviation industry’s only handset capable of recognizing the cradle in which it’s been placed, where location-based technology then configures the handset to a specific profile.
“Stylus Wi-Fi is hands down the best handset in business aviation. We challenge anyone to compare the TrueNorth Stylus line of handsets to anything else; Stylus wins for looks and performance,” says Mark van Berkel, TrueNorth CEO. “This is why more owners and operators of VVIP aircraft choose Stylus over any other handset. It offers unmatched performance and customizability, and the cordless version will give users more flexibility in the cabin when using the phone. Better yet, its cradle fits into both TrueNorth’s Simphonē legacy and Stylus corded handset cut-outs offering a simplified upgrade path.”
Following in the footsteps of its corded cousin, the TrueNorth Stylus Wi-Fi handset is designed for performance while offering flexibility and ease of upgrade. The handset charges in the cradle via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or 28V power. Stylus Wi-Fi gives users all the advantages of cordless phones without all the cordless phone headaches. The handset has Nickel-metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries to make certification easier, and smart power management technology that improves battery performance while helping to conserve power. Passengers need never miss a call because of a dead battery or arrive to a cabin full of phones with dead batteries because they’ve been left on. Additional smart technology allows the handset to configure itself when placed in the cradle—retaining passenger preferences—regardless of the handset’s location in the cabin, before take-off. Its sleek design and myriad of customization options make it ideal for discerning aircraft owners and operators.
“We’re seeing significant demand for cordless phones with high quality voice, which is why we’re introducing this new handset,” notes van Berkel. “As part of the Simphonē OpenCabin system, Stylus handsets make taking a call inflight, akin to talking face-to-face. This coupled with ease of installation and simplified upgrades make for an unbeatable airborne phone experience.”
