Markham, Ont.-based Shimco will be participating in Heli-Expo 2013, March 5 to 7 in Las Vegas, Nev. In booth N6408, the company will showcase samples of its polyimide-based shims in addition to some of its extensive range of custom manufactured products of solid, laminated, edgebond, and tapered shims, laminated sheets and precision machined parts.
Designed with polyimide film material produced by DuPont and Kaneka, the Shimco polyimide-based shims are laminated on-site at the company’s manufacturing facility in Canada. Polyimide films have a unique combination of electrical, thermal, chemical and mechanical properties that withstand extreme temperature, vibration and other demanding environments, but also provide a weight-saving advantage over similar metallic products.
Peter Voss, President of Shimco, stated, “We look forward to exhibiting at  Heli-Expo again this year, as it provides a unique opportunity for us to engage with many of our existing partners from industry-leading companies, and to connect with new businesses. This year we will be showcasing our polyimide-based shims, which were introduced to the market last year and have already proven successful in aircraft designs and assembly.”
More than 20,000 helicopter industry professionals are expected to attend Heli-Expo 2103. Heli-Expo is produced by the Helicopter Association International (HAI), of which Shimco has been a member for many years.
