Flying Colours appoints Richard Dabkowski as director of quality assurance

Richard Dabkowski has been appointed as director of quality assurance for the North American maintenance, refurbishment and completions business Flying Colours Corp.

Dabkowski, who will be based at the company’s Peterborough, Ont., facility, reports directly to Tony Barrett, vice-president, Technical Services, Flying Colours Corp.

Dabkowski is now responsible for all aspects of quality control relating to matters of airworthiness for maintenance, manufacturing, completion, and the Canadian National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP), at the Peterborough site.

In addition, he will be responsible for the ongoing evaluation and improvement of other internal quality assurance programs, as well as managing the company’s AS9100C status.

Externally, liaison with Transport Canada and foreign regulatory agencies will form a key part of the role.

His career spans over 30 years in aviation. He joined the Flying Colours maintenance team in 2011 following nine years as an independent consultant conducting aircraft maintenance record audits and providing technical consulting services for aircraft imports/exports.

Prior to this he worked in maintenance roles for AMO company Kelowna Flightcraft Ltd (now KWAerospace), and cargo company All Canada Express Ltd.

With his strong background in quality inspections, knowledge of technical records and aviation maintenance, as well as, experience and knowledge of Flying Colours Corp. procedures, Dabkowski is well positioned to fulfill the director of quality assurance position.

Dabkowski has taken on the role following the retirement of Al Keeling who has worked in the aviation industry for a lifetime, of which seven years were spent with Flying Colours Corp as director of quality assurance.
