Nolinor acquires three Boeing 737-400s in preparation for economic recovery

Nolinor Aviation Press Release | May 12, 2020

Estimated reading time 3 minutes, 5 seconds.

Nolinor Aviation, who recently made headlines with the Antonov An-225 flight in Mirabel, announced the addition of three Boeing 737-400 aircraft to its fleet, allowing the carrier to increase its capacity and to offer more flexibility to its clients during the economic recovery. Nolinor Aviation has been proactive since the beginning of the crisis and used its fleet of Boeing 737-200s to repatriate Canadians this past March.

“The Boeing 737-400 is a major addition to our fleet. It’s a way to modernize our services and improve energy efficiency. When the crisis is over, Nolinor Aviation will be in a favourable position at the starting line,” said Marco Prud’Homme, president of Nolinor Aviation.

With this announcement, Nolinor, which has been based in Mirabel since 2005, will become the only airline in Québec to offer this type of aircraft on the market. The cabin will seat 158 in economy class configuration, so these planes can be used for larger groups of passengers. Each plane will be modified to comply with Nolinor Aviation’s service and safety standards. The airline uses SkyTrack technology to monitor its aircraft in real time around the world.

Nolinor Aviation’s fleet of Boeing 737-400s will give its clients non-stop access to more distant destinations such as the Caribbean and carry larger payloads. On-board comfort and amenities will provide travellers with excellent in-flight service. This type of aircraft is ideal for sports clubs, troupes of artists (such as orchestras), conference attendees and groups of tourists. Nolinor Aviation will also be able to offer these services to other airlines experiencing technical problems.

The new 737-400s are equipped with the latest satellite monitoring technology, ADS-B, a satellite communication system used to contact the airplane directly during the flight. They can carry out LPV GPS approaches, which are more recent and accurate, as well as Category II ILS approaches. The cabins are equipped with new ultralight titanium seats designed to offer more legroom and wider cushions than normally used in this category of aircraft.

Its maximum cruising speed is 908 km/h (491 knots) and its optimal cruising speed is 794 km/h (429 knots). It can fly 4,973 km (2,685 NM) with a normal load and a fuel tank filled to maximum capacity.

Vincent Dufort, director of Business Development, is very enthusiastic about offering this new option to his clients, “This acquisition will allow us to meet a wider range of needs. Clients will be able to reserve their flight on a 737-400 very shortly by contacting me.”

  1. I would love to be invited to the 737-400 launch because aviation has always had a special place in my heart. Iv never been to Canada before and I feel like this would really be an experience. I really want to see a boeing classic Up close and hopefully get to take a flight on one 😉 Hopefully one day I’ll be the captain of a 737 and fill my dream of becoming a pilot!
    Thanks for reading,
    Eemil

  2. Been following your growth and success foe a while. Loved the 200fleet in action. Have flown on many a 200 combi with the gravel package. So happy to see you expand with the 400’s. Can’t wait to see what you do with them in your expansion plans.

  3. Nolinor is positioning themselves well for the future as a niche operator with a healthy & rugged fleet of Boeing 737’s. This 400 series addition will surely help in accommodating many varieties of Charter requests from groups. The effort put into these aircraft from the paint job to the cockpit is phenomenal to say the least. I remember seeing C-GTUK shortly after it was put into service and was amazed at how the aircraft stood on the ramp. Personally I think, Nolinor will emerge from this crisis as the top ACMI Operator in Canada.

  4. Great news for Nolinor, I have followed them since seeing a programme on TV about them. I was very impressed with the way they managed to operate from unmade strips using their older 737’s equipped with a front gear gravel deflector and vortex dissipators. From that programme I started following them on Instagram where they post lots of great photos and news. I would love to see their operation and the new 737-400 and also visit Canada as I’ve never been before I missed out on their latest employment open day but, as I live in the UK, the commute would have been horrendous anyway . I hope to get over to Canada some day and visit Québec. Keep up the good work Nolinor!

  5. When I started working in aviation, Nolinor was operating Convair 580s from the same hangar I was in. I remember seeing those big turboprops up close, what a sight! Have you ever seen the blades on those engines!? And the sound!! I hope to be able to see these new 737s up close too! Today, Seeing that Nolinor is still growing strong and modernizing their fleet is awesome news. Thru the years we’ve seen many airliners/operators come and go here in Canada and seeing one that keeps on going is a welcome sight even more during those challenging times. Who knows, maybe they’ll add the Antonov 225 to their fleet in the future! 😉 Continuez vos efforts Nolinor!!

  6. I’ve been a huge fan of Nolinor ever since I saw one of their Convair 580s Parked here at my local airport (CYSJ). I have always loved how Nolinor makes amazing connections with the aviation community and how Nolinor really does care about its passengers! Going to this launch event would allow me not only to show my huge appreciation for the airline, but would also allow me to celebrate a brand new aircraft with my favourite airline! Also, as a student pilot, this event would also allow me the opportunity to network with the company and gain valuable industry knowledge that would for sure benefit me in my future career!

  7. It’s amazing to see an aviation company who continues to grow during this particular time. As an aviation worker who doesn’t work for now ( and who knows for how long ), it gives me hope that, for real, everything will be ok. Assisting to the 737-400 launch would fill up my passion tank and give me wings to fly to the next step. Jetfuel is my kryptonite. Tarmac is my landmark ( it rimes en crime ) ! Thank you for this opportunity but also, thank you for being you!

  8. First off, congratulations to Nolinor on the acquisition of your new aircraft, what a beautiful plane. I’m a very big fan of Nolinor and what they have done all over Canada, from repatriating citizens in faraway countries to supplying various needs to northern communities (for free!) in these challenging times. Let me introduce myself, I’m Jordan Ellis, a second-year at Seneca College Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology. I guess you could say my dream is to be a pilot, which it has since I can first recall (my mother and father would take me at the age of four to Toronto Pearson to watch the planes land, they were so loud!) I have watched with great interest the expansion of Nolinor, and it is by far one of my favourite aviation companies (especially due to your B732 aircraft). After seeing on Nolinor’s social media pages that they had acquired a new aircraft brought great excitement. An invite to attend the launch of your brand new 737-400 aircraft would be a dream come true. As someone whose intention is to work in the professional aviation environment, having the experience witnessing the launch of your new aircraft would be extraordinarily special and valuable. In conclusion, congratulations to Nolinor, keep up the amazing work. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. Cheers.

  9. I see a lot of potential in this dynamic company. Wish them tons of success!

It’s simple, but it’s because we (my daughter, who just turned 6 and I), “we’re going to the top, when a plane goes over the house… We’re in the corridor departures from YMX. We each have the Flightradar24 application (me on my iPhone and she on her itouch and her tablet) and we are constantly watching who takes off! In addition I work from home and I can’t wait to go out and see the world !!!!! We often go to see near the airport but never seen as close as being VIP … thanks in advance

  16. The B734 is an excellent acquisition by Nolinor, as the aircraft opens up new charter opportunities and furthers growth within the airline. Down the road I’d love to see myself as flight crew on their 737, so it would be awesome to be there for this unveiling. I have always been a big fan of their business model, and how they serve some of the most remote locations in the country regularly to ensure those living there get the supplies they need. Nolinor’s cockpit and cabin crews are a breath of fresh air in today’s world, and their public relations team is second to none. It would be a pleasure to meet those involved, and to see the new aircraft as they are introduced in the livery of their new home. There really is nothing better for avgeeks than classic 737s, and I hope to have the opportunity to be apart of it.

  17. Congratulations!
    Amazing achievement by Nolinor Team.

Great success for Quebec and Canada !

  21. Ever since I could remember, attending a special event such as this was my ultimate dream. My love for aviation has thought be a lot in life and I wish to attend this event not only because it is my all time dream but so I am share and learn knowledge about aviation with many other people who share the same love.

  23. I have family in Canada and I am a huge aviation fan. Canada is my happy place because every time I go there it makes me feel relaxed and excited (especially Tim bits 😀 ) also I am very excited to see nolinor get their 737-400 because it opens countless opportunities for them as a airline because they could expand their routes and have higher range! This is a door opening for them and they are going through and this door leads them to being one of the main carriers in Canada!

  24. I’m a big fan and have been following Nolinors succes for a while now. As a Canadian aviation student I’m so proud to know that we have incredible companies like Nolinor who represent our country so well. I recently just passed my private pilot exam and Im working on obtaining my commercial license this year. My dream is to fly 747s one day and it would be such an honor to be at the launch of the new 400 alongside Nolinor

  25. Bonjour.

  28. Congratulations for further growing your incredible fleet! It is surely amazing to see those classic birds (737-200, -300, -400 and Convairs) finding their new life and soaring the sky where they belong. I remember last year when I worked as a ramp attendant at YUL, I got the chance to work on one of your -200s when they were called by Sunwing for help due to the 737 MAX crisis. It was quite an experience to step on such classic aircraft and push it back from the gate. Currently sitting idle at home because my flying school is closed due to COVID-19, your contest reminded me the fun days doing ramp work last year. I would really like to have the chance to admire your new fleet member and stimulate my aviation passion. Thank you very much!

  29. Just because I traveled with Nolinor many times to Lac Pau, to visit Leaf River Lodge.
    Congratulations!

  33. Why should i win this opportunity? I mean do i really even have a valid reason? Probably not but heres my shot.
For the Past 10 years(since i was 5yrs old) i have dreamed of being able to sore through the skies. As a student finishing high school, and wanting to pilot nolinors Classic 737s. It would truly be a dream come true to be able to be apart of this momentous occasion in not only nolinor history, but canadian Aviation History. For the past 5 years i have strived and loved watching every minute of seeing nonlinors un-profound success and history changing aviation action. So not only would this inspire me more to push through all the mountains in the way to becoming a pilot, but i would have a story to tell for the rest of my life. Not only to bring back to my family and my dad(whos a pilot and inspires me daily) but i would be able to tell these storys to my fellow peers at my cadet squadron with whom ive been with for 4 years. Although i am many steps away from being able to fly for nolinor, for now… id love to be able to fly with nolinor.

  34. I would like to fly the 737-400 because Aviation is one of my best Passions. I grew up living under the flight path at LAX! Aviations had a major impact in my life. I would love to fly a 737-400 because it’s a piece of history!

  35. Would love to assist at the event. I worked for Nolinor on many flights up North across Canada on the CV-580. I’m proud of the progress the company made over the years.

  37. I enjoy and respect watching the growth of a Canadian operator that’s as comfortable north of 60 as they are in southern domestic airspace. Polite golf clap.
    Good on ya, Nolinor!

  39. Nonlinor fending off the crisis’ impact just like the 737-400 gravel kits fending off FOD – ultimately allowing operations in and out of a rough and tough place while keeping everyone safe 🙂

  40. Nolinor fending off the crisis’ impact just like the 737-400 gravel kits fending off FOD – ultimately allowing operations in and out of a rough and tough place while keeping everyone safe

  41. I am a young pilot in training and a passionate aviation photographer with a massive respect for aviation of the past. Nolinor Aviation is preserving aviation history and proving that you don’t need the newest technology to not only run a stable business but even have an advantage in the ever-changing aviation market! Not only is it unique but it’s just jaw dropping impressive! It’s always been a dream to see the Nolinor operations up close! Im enamored by the idea of flying an old 737 into an ice or dirt strip. I would be forever grateful to be invited to the launch of the 737-400 operations to be able to document history with my camera and see what flying in the north is like as a pilot, since I am heavily considering some kind of operation like Nolinor as a place for employment in the future! I would be honored with a chance to fly the early model 737s or even the convair!

  42. Bonjour,

    Bonne journée a tous
