OAC offering four scholarships to students studying aerospace

The Ontario Aerospace Council announced it is offering four scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year for students going into or currently enrolled in an aerospace studies program at a post-secondary institution (college or university) in Ontario.

The value of each scholarship is $2,500. Scholarship funds will be provided to the successful applicants for the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year.

OAC scholarships for aerospace studies — Who can apply?

Aerospace Studies Scholarships (three available – open to all):

  • High school students in their final year who are entering an aerospace studies program at an accredited Ontario college or university.
  • Students currently enrolled in an aerospace studies program at an accredited Ontario college or university and continuing their studies in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Women In Aerospace Studies Scholarship (one available):

  • Young women attending high school in their final year who are entering an aerospace studies program at an accredited Ontario college or university.
  • Women currently enrolled in an aerospace studies program at an accredited Ontario college or university and continuing their studies in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application form;
  • Essay (500 – 700 words) from applicant stating their interest in aerospace and career aspirations;
  • For first year students, a letter of acceptance into their chosen academic institution;
  • Two letters of reference from community members (teacher, professor, coach, employer, volunteer leader);
  • Academic report issued by applicant’s current educational institution for the 2019-2020 academic year (most current);
  • Academic achievement of 75 per cent or greater in current year studies.

Applications must be submitted electronically to the OAC at leigh.kras@theOAC.ca. Applications must be received no later than Friday July 3, 2020. The OAC Scholarship Committee (comprised of industry professionals) will review applications and select the successful candidates and will advise those selected by Aug. 10, 2020.

The OAC would also like to take a moment to thank and recognize its sponsors for making this year’s scholarships possible. Typically, scholarship funds are provided through its annual golf tournament, which had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
