Porter Airlines is introducing seasonal service between Stephenville, N.L., and Halifax. From June 28 to Aug. 31, Porter will operate one weekly round-trip flight, with introductory one-way fares beginning at $163, including all fees and taxes. Flights are now available for booking at www.flyporter.com or by calling 1-888-619-8622.
“As the only scheduled service between these destinations, we’ll be able to offer passengers an easier, more affordable flight option than anything that is currently available,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “Porter offers a stress-free approach to air travel that I believe Stephenville will embrace.”
Since 2006, Porter has revolutionized short-haul air travel by offering a premium experience for all passengers, including leather seats, extra legroom, complimentary wine and beer onboard and exceptional customer service. Its “flying refined” approach has developed a loyal following among business and leisure travellers in each of its 19 markets and has made Porter the Top Small Airline in the World, as voted by Condé Nast Traveler readers.
“I am extremely pleased that Porter Airlines will be offering weekly, direct flights from Stephenville to Halifax starting in June,” said The Honorable Terry French, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. “This access to Halifax, and its connecting routes, will be of great benefit to the Stephenville region and will have a significant impact on reducing travel time and positioning the area as a destination of choice in the province.”
Stephenville is Porter’s fourth destination in Atlantic Canada, with flights already operating from Halifax, Moncton and St. John’s.
“On behalf of Stephenville Airport Corporation, we are delighted to welcome Porter Airlines to its new destination,” said Brenda Martin, CEO and airport manager. “This new route allows Stephenville Airport to expand and better serve our travellers in the western and southwestern part of the province with a schedule conveniently timed to meet the demands of our summer peak traffic. Landing Porter in Stephenville has been a long-term goal and a key element of our strategy for sustainability. Additional routes are a key step in growing our airport to meet future demand.”
“Porter has played a significant role in connecting Halifax with Newfoundland and Labrador and we are very pleased to see that connection strengthened with this new service,” said Joyce Carter, president and CEO of Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA). “Porter has been a great partner of ours since their first expansion to Halifax in 2007 and we welcome this new collaboration.”
Between June 28 and Aug. 31, Porter will offer a Saturday flight departing from Halifax at 4:55 p.m. and landing in Stephenville at 6:35 p.m. A return flight departs Stephenville on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and arrives in Halifax at 10:25 a.m. All times are local.
