The Royal Canadian Air Force will be conducting multiple flybys over Winnipeg in support of the Canadian Football League Grey Cup festivities this weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 28:
  • In the early afternoon, the Snowbirds will practice formation flying in Southern Manitoba. Communities in the areas of Portage la Prairie, Carman, and Steinbach may see the nine-aircraft formation, which may be trailing their white smoke. The flight will occur at no lower than 1,000 feet above ground, before returning to 17 Wing Winnipeg. These training flights are subject to weather and other considerations.
  • At about 4:30 p.m., the Snowbirds will conduct a flyby of the Grey Cup Festival Santa Parade. The nine-aircraft formation will fly down Portage Avenue from Young Street to Main Street, and back, at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point before resuming to a higher flying altitude.
On Grey Cup Sunday:
  • Two CF-18 Hornets from Four Wing in Cold Lake, Alta., will conduct two flybys over Investor’s Group Field at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point of the park during the singing of the national anthem and the game kick-off at about 5:30 p.m.
