EMTEQ has received a contract award from Greenpoint Technologies to provide LED interior lighting for two Boeing 787 VIP completions.
The program utilizes EMTEQ’s newest lighting products including white wash and dome lighting.  These products showcase EMTEQ’s latest technological advancements to operate directly from115VAC wild frequency.  This significant advantage eliminates the need for a Transformer Rectifier Unit (TRU) and the added cost and weight associated with it..
“EMTEQ is the expert for LED lighting for the VIP completion market with a strong product line of both white lighting and full spectrum mood lighting, but also a strong ability to develop products unique to the aircraft,” said Eric Beverage, EMTEQ’s director-global technical business development.
Upon receipt of the STC, EMTEQ will be receiving PMA for the associated lighting products on the Boeing 787 platform.
In other news, EMTEQ signed an agreement with Boeing in March to support Boeing aftermarket aircraft interior modification programs. EMTEQ will be providing LED lighting for the Boeing Next-Generation 737 enhanced interior.
This mood lighting package, available today to Boeing 737 operators from Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, encompasses the cabin ceiling, sidewalls and decorative lights. The lighting will be controlled through the existing Flight Attendant Panel and is designed to drop in quickly, requiring minimal wiring changes. EMTEQ’s lighting solution for Boeing will utilize EMTEQ’s proven lighting technology, which is currently certified and flying on several Boeing 737-800s.
EMTEQ has also announced that Icelandair has completed their first aircraft installation of its lighting system onto a B757.
This system includes EMTEQ’s 115VAC QUASAR II Full Spectrum Mood Lighting in the ceiling and white sidewall lighting. EMTEQ’s QUASAR II provides unlimited options for the aircraft interior. Two inch node resolution delivers highly customizable scenes with dynamic colors and intensity levels.
This is the first of 18 B757 Icelandair will be installing this system on in 2014 with certification currently pending.
In addition, EMTEQ’s LED Red Beacon Light replacement kit for the Embraer ERJ 145, part number EMB145-RBL-900, has received an approved PMA supplement from the FAA.
This kit contains an LED Red Beacon light, adapter plate, and harness allowing for a quick and easy, drop-in upgrade for both existing upper and lower beacons. This new light operates off 28VDC power and has a smaller aerodynamic profile than the existing xenon light. The LED replacement also significantly increases cycle count reducing maintenance requirements and long lead time spares issues.
This red beacon is currently used on Embraer production aircraft and is applicable for ERJ135 and ERJ140.
Finally, EMTEQ has received FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for installations of an ICG Iridium SATCOM and Rockwell Collins ACARS on a Boeing 767-200/-300/-300F.
These two STCs install equipment that represents the baseline architecture for future FANS upgrades via OEM Service Bulletin(s).  This system is a comprehensive SATCOM and ACARS communications system that provides the flight crew with voice channels and a dedicated Datalink channel to support ACARS, FANs messaging, and CPDLC.
The ICG ICS-220A Iridium Satellite Communication (SATCOM) System, ST04139AT, consists of an Iridium Transceiver and a Configuration Identification Module (CIM) installed in the E5 Mid Equipment Shelf, an Iridium SATCOM Antenna installed on the upper fuselage, and replacement of the Audio Select Panels (ASP) with new Gables ASPs with SATCOM selection. Control of the SATCOM is via existing, capable Flight Management System (FMS) Multi-function Control Display Units (MCDU).
The Rockwell Collins CMU-900 Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), ST04140AT, consists of a Communication Management Unit (CMU) and an Aircraft Personality Module (APM) installed in the avionics compartment, replacement of the existing Center Very High Frequency (VHF) Communication Transceiver, a Multi-Function Data Printer installed in the pedestal, and replacement of the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Panel with a Solid State Cockpit Voice Recorder (SSCVR) and associated Cockpit Voice Recorder Microphone Monitor Panel (CVRMMP) capable of recording datalink messages. Configurations are available for aircraft with or without existing ACARS provisions.
EMTEQ will provide installation provisions including FAA/PMA 8130-3.  Visit emteq.com/stc for more information and to download configuration guides.
