FlightSafety, Gulfstream further enhance pilot and maintenance technician training

FlightSafety International and Gulfstream Aerospace have announced enhancements to the training programs and services available to pilots and maintenance technicians of Gulfstream aircraft.

Controller Pilot Data Link Communication training is now available for Gulfstream GIV, GV, G280, G450, G550 and G650 aircraft. It is offered as a FlightSafety eLearning course specific to each aircraft, and through a controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC) iFlightDECK  subscription within FlightSafety’s new FlightBag application.

FlightSafety is incorporating the Honeywell Cert Hotel (ASC 911) upgrade into its Gulfstream G450 and G550 simulators located in Dallas, Farnborough, Hong Kong, Long Beach and Wilmington. The upgrade provides ARINC data link services including ACARS-DCL, which delivers a departure clearance via data link at airports, allows pilots to now use CPDLC-DCL during training, and adds ADS-B capability to the simulators.

FlightSafety and Gulfstream have added a complete virtual aircraft tour to the joint Total Technical Training program. It provides maintenance technicians with the ability to view the entire aircraft in the classroom and within the training materials provided on an iPad.

FlightSafety adds master-level advanced training courses for multiple aircraft

FlightSafety also announced the addition of master-level advanced training courses for Beechcraft King Air, Cessna Citation, Dassault Falcon, Gulfstream, and Pilatus aircraft.

“The ongoing expansion of FlightSafety’s Advanced Training program demonstrates our commitment and ability to develop and deliver master-level courses that provide unmatched depth and effectiveness, and have a significant positive impact on safety,” said David Davenport, executive vice-president.

The courses include advanced upset prevention and recovery training, advanced rejected takeoff go/no-go, advanced crew resource management/human factors line-oriented flight training, and advanced energy management.

All four courses will be available for Gulfstream GV, G280, G450, G550, G650, Cessna Citation CJ3 and Latitude. Advanced rejected takeoff go/no-go, advanced energy management and advanced CRM human factors LOFT are offered for the Dassault Falcon 2000EX EASy and Falcon 900EX EASy. Advanced upset prevention and recovery training is now available for the Pilatus PC-12 and PC-12NG. It is currently being developed for the Beechcraft King Air 350.

FlightSafety now offers new composite material courses

FlightSafety is expanding its maintenance training program to include new composite materials courses. The training will be offered in conjunction with Abaris Training Resources, Inc. through FlightSafety’s Maintenance Learning Centre in Wichita, Kansas.

“Our Customers will benefit from the new composite material courses we are offering with Abaris,” said Daniel MacLellan, senior vice-president, operations. “The courses include expanded composite inspection and repair capabilities not previously available at our learning centres. These new and innovative classes are available to FlightSafety’s maintenance event based agreement customers.”

FlightSafety has announced the introduction of its Master aviator program for helicopter pilots.

“We are pleased to now offer the FlightSafety Master Aviator program for helicopter pilots,” said David Davenport, executive vice-president. “Master Aviator sets a new standard for pilot achievement and recognition, and helps pilots to develop a deeper knowledge of the helicopter they fly and to ensure a safe and correct response to a broad range of demanding, unexpected situations.”

The progressive master aviator curriculum builds upon the fundamentals covered by initial and recurrent training. FlightSafety master aviator for helicopter pilots is earned by completing two advanced aircraft-specific core courses and a choice of four electives. At least one FlightSafety initial or recurrent training event must also be completed every eight months.

FlightSafety to provide training for  Embraer Legacy 450 and 500 in Dallas

FlightSafety will provide training for the Embraer Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 aircraft in Dallas, Texas. This is in addition to the training FlightSafety now offers for these aircraft in St. Louis, Mo.

“FlightSafety is pleased to expand the support we provide to Embraer Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 owners and operators by offering training using a new full flight simulator at our Learning Centre in Dallas,” said MacLellan.

Training is scheduled to begin in December 2016.  Initial, recurrent, and other specialized pilot training will be provided using a new FlightSafety simulator. It will be qualified to Level D by the United States Federal Aviation Administration, the European Aviation Safety Agency, the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil, and other agencies according to Customer requirements.

FlightSafety’s new FlightBag application receives outstanding customer reviews

FlightSafety’s new FlightBag application is receiving outstanding customer reviews. More than 16,000 pilots and maintenance technicians have started using this newly enhanced courseware delivery and presentation application since it was introduced in late July. They have already downloaded in excess of 1.5 million training documents.

“We are pleased that a rapidly growing number of customers are using FlightBag to download and review their training documents,” said MacLellan. “This clearly demonstrates the efficiency and ease of use this new app offers. FlightBag is another example of the innovative services we provide and clear demonstration of our position as the leader in customer service.”

FlightSafety’s FlightBag App offers features that increase the effectiveness of courseware delivery, presentation, and use. Its interaction with FlightSafety’s courseware includes enhanced annotation capabilities and document organization choices.

FlightSafety’s Gulfstream G500 training program to include first business jet simulator equipped with CrewView glass mirror display

FlightSafety’s upcoming Gulfstream G500 training program will include the first business jet simulator equipped with a CrewView collimated glass mirror display. The simulator is located at FlightSafety’s learning centre in Savannah, Ga. It is being used by Gulfstream during design, development and certification of the aircraft.

FlightSafety will provide training for the Gulfstream G500 as it enters service.

“FlightSafety’s CrewView collimated display system will provide Gulfstream G500 pilots with an enhanced training experience that contributes to the realism FlightSafety’s FS1000 simulators deliver,” said MacLellan.
