Airshows are some of the most popular outdoor events around the world, and each year, the ICAS Foundation (the non-profit relative of the International Council of Air Shows) inducts up to three air show performers into the foundation’s Airshow Hall of Fame (HOF).
Nominations may be submitted by any person or organization until July 1, 2016.
The HOF is currently home to more than 50 air show greats including pilots, stunt performers, producers, announcers, designers, builders, and other innovators who have changed the face of air shows forever. A complete list of inductees is available at the foundation’s website.
“There are always a few who stand out by going the extra mile,” said Steve Oliver, HOF chairman. “This is an opportunity to recognize those who have moved the air show industry forward and who have inspired us all.”
Any air show enthusiast may submit a nomination using the hall of fame nominating petition, available for download here.
Eligible nominees are not limited to the categories mentioned above. The only requirement is that nominees must have made a significant impact upon the airshow industry. Their contribution to the world of airshows must be demonstrated through showmanship, performance or innovation, and may encompass a single accomplishment or a body of work.
Additional requirements are that the candidate must have entered the air show industry a minimum of 10 years prior to the year of nomination.
A selection panel designated by the foundation board of directors will choose this year’s inductees shortly after the July 1 nomination deadline. The induction ceremony will be held during the annual ICAS Convention in December in Las Vegas, Nev.
The ICAS Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of airshows, and recognizing the advances of, the air show industry. In addition to the Hall of Fame, the foundation’s programs include several aviation scholarships and a Family Fund to assist families when tragedy strikes within the air show community.
